TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION IN INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES

Introduction

Technology provides instant accessibility to information, which is why its presence in the classroom is so vital. Smart phones, computers, and tablets are already an omnipresent element of everyday life for students and teachers alike. It’s only natural that the use of technological devices in the classroom are explored to create meaningful learning experiences for students of all ages.Utilizing technology and implementing tech into lesson plans can ensure a more interactive class experience. Technology can reshape the future of education in big ways, forming new bonds between students and teachers, and with students and the entire learning experience. indulge the students into a healthy thought process and help them understand things from a different perspective. The education research scholars are coming up with new techniques to impart knowledge every day.The introduction of applications in the education sector has led to the introduction of new learning methods. There are fun games available on mobile applications that indulge the students into a healthy thought process and help them understand things from a different perspective. The education research scholars are coming up with new techniques to impart knowledge every day.

We the students of Educational Technology & Management hosted a workshop of 3 days on TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION IN INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES i.e.,

from 10th August 2021 to 12th August 2021 under the guidance of Dr. Shraddha Verma Ma’am to learn how to deal with different educational technology applications.

This teacher trainee focused workshop discussed ways to connect with students, share resources, and enrich a course with Educational Apps. We discussed the apps available for mobile devices and how to use them on the go. This workshop introduced teacher trainees to the many uses of Educational Apps for teaching and learning. With its uniquely personal, experiential style of learning, this Workshop helped B.Ed. students for internship.

 Objectives:

  • Extend students' learning beyond the walls of the classroom.
  • Prepare students to be safe, responsible and innovative digital citizens.
  • Enable students to take responsibility for their own learning.
  • Provide students with the tools to be successful in their future endeavors in higher education and/or
  • Provide equal access to technology and tools to all students in order to provide equal opportunities for all students.
  • Engage students in real-world problems by collaborating with others in the classroom and across the world.

 Flow of Workshop:

 Day 1 – AR Loopa & Unite AR Host - Ms. Tripti Datta

The session was started with the valuable words by our Respected Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey Sir followed by Vice Principal Dr. G. Padma Gouri Ma’am’s encouraging words.

The session carried further with the demonstration of app AR loopa by Mr. Praful Tirkey and Ms. Afsa Tarannum

 AR Loopa - With AR, classroom education can be extraordinary and more interactive, as AR can enable teachers to show virtual examples of concepts and add gaming elements to provide textbook material support. This will enable students to learn faster and memorize information.Ms. Swarna Lal explained the Unite AR app.

 Unite AR - Traditional teaching methods don't fit with online classes. The students may not follow the complex concepts if it is something they cannot relate or experience, AR enabled learning resolves this by connecting the student with the subject.At the end our HOD Mrs. Gayatri Iyengar Ma’am expressed her appreciative views on this workshop.

 Day 2 – Kahoot & InShot

Host - Ms. Usha Kiran Lakra

The Day was started by a motivational speech by our respected Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey Sir.Proceeding with the workshop Ms. Usha Kiran Lakra invited the application's presenters.

Kahoot app- Explained by Ms. Tripti Datta

 Kahoot - It’s a fun and effective way to measure which concepts your students understand fully. Teachers can create multiple choice games related to class content that students can play as a class by entering the game code on their app or device. Kahoot offers a multitude of other forms of games related to class content that can make learning fun.

Inshot app - Explained by Ms. Afsa Tarannum

 InShot - InShot is a good learning tool, since it eases the process of creation and makes sharing what students create fairly simple. It's also tuned specifically to social media-friendly content, so it'll connect with young people.At the end of the second day of the Workshop, Mrs. Gayatri Iyengar, our Head of the Department expressed her views and thoughts about our second day workshop. After giving her valuable comments, she had given advice to give feedback among students, which was given by the following two students: Ms. Sonali Ekka & Ms. Simi Sheetal Ekka.

 Day 3 – Edpuzzle & Teachmint Host - Ms. Sonali Ekka

Early in the session, Respected Principal Dr. Kuldeep Dubey Sir enriched us with his kind words. Vice Principal Dr. G. Padma Gouri Ma’am also enlightened us with her vitalizing words.The session was followed by the explanation of app Edpuzzle by Ms. Tripti Datta.

 EdpuzzleFor teachers, Edpuzzle is a great way to break down an informative video and make sure students understand the main points. Being able to add comments will help with clarity and asking students questions along the way will make sure they understand the material.After that, Teachmint app was demonstrated by Ms. Nisha Goswami

 Teachmint - Teachmint is an all-in-one education technology platform created specifically for the teachers of the digital age. Combining live classes, student engagement tools as well as various other classroom facilitating features, the platform focuses on creating a deeply immersive online experience.Ms. Heena Banjare and Ms. Shalu Verma of B.Ed 2nd sem shared their thoughts and appreciated this initiative. The session was concluded by gratifying words of our Respected faculties Mrs. Yashaswee Lonkar Ma’am and Mrs. Ramola DanMa’am.

Feedback forms were sent at the end of each session to collect information and reaction of participants which was used as a basis for improvement.

Assignments were also given on each day to provide a practice exposure and knowledge enhancement of the apps. The students who attempted the assignments received automated appreciation certificates at real time.

  Technical team:Our technical team was the backbone of our program. They had generated the link, created a format of assignment as well as the feedback form and also provided the Automated certificate.

 Learning Outcomes:

  Teacher trainees implemented technology-infused strategic plans.

  Teacher trainees learnt a variety of educational apps for use in a technology-rich learning environment.

  It promoted best practices in teaching, learning and assessment.

  It built confidence in teacher trainees for effective teaching experience.   Building lesson plans using differentiated instruction and technology.

 Conclusion:

The three day workshop came to an end. Every teacher trainee would ensure that the bonds that were created during these three days would be kept intact and will strengthen every opportunity. Words cannot bring to fore the new experience that each of us had at all instances throughout the workshop.

Finally, a word of appreciation to all teacher trainees and to all faculties, who all came together and made this workshop successful.
